Our History

The main house of the Inn dates back to 1798, with a significant history. According to the reporter Trevor Maxwell, of The Cape Cod Times, the small stone cellar concealed under a trap door in the Inn's entrance foyer might have served as a hiding place for slaves traveling along the "Underground Railroad."

Three centuries later, the Inn still serves as a refuge, but of a different kind.
